What's on the Templates screen

A walk through the screen that holds your templates: the rows and what their tiles and counts mean, the search, the plus button, the selection menu, and the screen before your first template.

Every template you have saved sits on one screen. To get there, open the More tab and tap Templates; the row there also counts how many you have.

The Templates screen with nine saved templates, each row carrying four small category tiles, its name and a line reading 4 items · 4 categories

At the top

The screen's name, Templates, sits at the top left.

The magnifying glass beside it swaps the name for a search field. It looks inside template names, and capitals do not matter; the list narrows once you have typed two characters and paused for a moment — see Find a template.

The rows

Every template you have saved gets a row of its own, and each row shows:

  • Four small tiles on the left, standing in for the categories the items inside belong to. The categories holding the most items come first, and a tile with no category behind it is left blank. A template with nothing in it shows four blank tiles.
  • The template's name, on one line.
  • A chevron at the right end. Tap anywhere on the row to open that template.
  • Under the name, a line that counts what is inside, such as 4 items · 4 categories. The first number is how many items the template holds; the second is how many different categories those items sit in.

A template you have saved goes to the top of the list, and rows cannot be dragged into another order.

The plus button

The plus button in the bottom-right corner opens the form for a new template — see Create a template.

When templates are selected

Two templates highlighted with a tick where their tiles were, the title reading 2 selected, and the menu open on Select all, Create trip and Delete

Press and hold a row to select it; that long press is the only way in. Tapping other rows adds them, and a tick replaces the tiles of each selected row.

The back arrow at the top left clears the selection and leaves you on the screen. Beside it, the title counts what you picked, such as 2 selected.

The three-dot button appears only while something is selected, and it opens the selection menu:

  • Select all — selects every template you can see. With a search open, that means only the ones it found. It is hidden once everything visible is selected.
  • Edit — shown only with one template selected. It opens that template's name for changing — see Rename a template.
  • Duplicate — shown only with one template selected. It starts a second template carrying the same items — see Duplicate a template.
  • Create trip — builds a packing list out of the templates you picked. The new list is an ordinary one and does not become your current trip — see Start a list from a template.
  • Delete — removes the templates you picked once you have confirmed — see Delete a template.

Before your first template

The Templates screen with nothing saved yet, showing a line about what templates are for and a Create template button

Until you save one, the list is replaced by a short explanation of what templates are for, with a Create template button under it. The plus button in the corner is not drawn while the screen has nothing to list.
