What a template is

A template is the packing you keep for a kind of trip - the items and how many of each - so your next list starts already written instead of empty.

A template is a set of items you keep for trips of a kind: the swimwear and sun cream that go to the coast, the chargers and adapters that travel with work. You write it down once and start from it every time after that.

The Templates screen with nine saved templates, each row showing its name and a line counting its items and categories

Your templates sit together on the Templates screen. To get there, open the More tab and tap Templates.

A template holds items and how many of each, and nothing more. There are no travel dates on one, because dates belong to a trip rather than to a kind of trip.

It is not a list either, and you do not pack it. Its rows carry no square to tick and no progress, because nothing on a template is going anywhere.

What a template is for is starting a list. The items are copied onto the new list, which keeps its own copy of them from then on. That list is the one you pack, rename and add to, and you can start another from the same template whenever the next trip of that kind comes round.

You can keep five templates; the sixth (Pro) opens a sheet when you tap Save.
