What's on the Categories screen
A guide to the Categories screen - the search, what each row shows, what the item count counts, the drag handle, the plus button and the menu you get when categories are selected.
The Categories screen is where you make, shape and order the categories that group your items. To get there, open the More tab and tap Categories.

At the top
Categories is the screen's name.
The magnifying glass opens a search field in place of the title. It looks for your words inside category names, and capitals do not matter. The list filters once you have typed two characters and paused for a moment. When no name matches, you see No matching results. The back arrow closes the search and brings the full list back. While a search is open, rows cannot be dragged.
The rows
Categories are listed in your own order: the same order their groups appear in on the Catalog tab. Each row shows:
- The chip on the left: the category's icon on a square of its color. A category without a color shows its icon on a plain, uncolored square. To pick either, see Choose a color and an icon.
- The name of the category.
- The item count below the name, such as "6 items". It counts the items in your catalog that are filed under this category. Lists are not counted.
- The drag handle on the right, two short lines. Touch it and drag the row up or down to change the order, which is kept as soon as you let go — see Edit and reorder categories.
Tap a row to open that category for editing.
The plus button
The plus button in the bottom-right corner opens the form for a new category, which goes to the end of the list — see Create a category.
When categories are selected
Press and hold a row to select it, then tap other rows to add them. A tick replaces the chip of each selected row, and the title changes to the number of categories selected. Drag handles hide until you leave selection with the back arrow.

The three-dot button at the top right opens the selection menu:
- Select all — selects every category you can see. With a search open, that means only the ones it found. It is hidden once everything visible is selected.
- Edit — shown only with one category selected. It opens that category for editing.
- Change — shown with two or more categories selected. It opens to Color and Icon, and the one you pick is given to every selected category — see Edit and reorder categories.
- Delete — deletes the selected categories. When they hold items, the items are not deleted: you choose where they move first — see Delete a category.
